Douglas County Updating Fire Plan
Douglas County’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) needs updating. Finalized in 2013, the plan is now ten years old and projects and priorities will be examined to reflect current changes within the county. The current CWPP can be found if you google “Douglas County WA CWPP”. It is on the Washington Department of Natural Resources website.
What is a CWPP? A CWPP is a comprehensive plan developed by local citizens and state and federal agencies. The plan addresses issues such as wildfire response, community preparedness, hazard mitigation, structure protection and local community needs. Douglas County fire districts, conservation districts, state and federal agencies as will as local residents are encouraged to be involved. The plan, funded by the Washington State Conservation Commission to be completed by June, 2025, will provide guidance to those involved in fire prevention and control to understand the main concerns of Douglas County.
